TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 35 houses were damaged due to a 4.1 magnitude earthquake that hit Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, on Thursday night, April 10, 2025, according to the updated data from the Bogor Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) until Friday at 03:00 PM WIB.
The earthquake, which occurred on Thursday at 10:16 PM WIB, was centered on land at a depth of 5 kilometers, with coordinates 6.62 South Latitude and 106.80 East Longitude. Residents felt the tremor for two to three seconds with moderate vibrations.
The Head of Data, Information, and Disaster Communication Center of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Abdul Muhari, said that 11 sub-districts in four districts in Bogor City and one village in one district in Bogor Regency were affected by the earthquake.
"A total of 35 households were affected by the earthquake, consisting of 25 households in Bogor City, one of which suffered minor injuries, and 10 households in Bogor Regency," he said in a written statement on Friday, April 11, 2025.
Meanwhile, the material losses caused by the earthquake included 24 slightly damaged houses and one moderately damaged house in Bogor City, as well as nine slightly damaged houses and one moderately damaged house in Bogor Regency.
"In addition, educational facilities also suffered minor damage."
The affected areas in Bogor City include the Kedung Halang sub-district (North Bogor); East Cilendek, West Cilendek, Menteng, and Pasir Jaya sub-districts (West Bogor); Panaragan, Curug Mekar, and Gudang sub-districts (Central Bogor); as well as Rancamaya, Muarasari, and Bondongan sub-districts (South Bogor); and Cijayanti Village, Babakan Madang District, Bogor Regency.
According to Muhari, although the situation has now returned to normal and residents have returned to their respective homes, the regional government through the BPBD of Bogor City and Regency, together with BNPB, continues to update data and gradually handle post-earthquake conditions, including emergency needs mapping if necessary.
BNPB urges people to remain calm if another earthquake occurs, not to spread unverified information, and to follow official instructions from the government.
"BNPB will periodically provide information on developments through the official BNPB information channels," he said.
