TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian U-16 women’s national team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Australia in the semifinal of the AFF U-16 Women’s Cup 2025, ending their hopes of reaching the final. The match took place at Manahan Stadium in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

Australia took control early in the game, with Abbie Skyce Pucket scoring twice in the first half. Kaya Jugovic added a third goal in the 69th minute, sealing Australia’s victory.

With this win, Australia advanced to the final to face Thailand, who defeated Vietnam 3-1 in the other semifinal. Indonesia will now meet Vietnam in the third-place match on Friday, August 29, at 15:30 WIB, with the final scheduled later the same day at 19:30 WIB.

Match Highlights

Australia applied continuous pressure from the start, attempting breakthrough passes and creating scoring opportunities. Indonesian goalkeeper Alleana Ayu Arumy made an early crucial save in the 10th minute, denying an Australian attack by intercepting the ball before it could be finished.

In the 22nd minute, Abbie Skye Pucket opened the scoring with a precise rebound following a blocked shot from Kaya Jugovic.

Five minutes later, she doubled Australia’s lead with a long-range strike from outside the penalty box. Despite several more opportunities, Australia was temporarily held at bay by strong defensive efforts from the Indonesian team, including additional saves by Alleana.

In the second half, Indonesia tried to assert control over the ball, but continued Australian pressure made it difficult for them to create clear chances. Australia extended their lead to 3-0 in the 69th minute when team captain Kaya Jugovic scored with a powerful long-range shot.

Throughout the match, Australia dominated possession and consistently threatened Indonesia’s defense with long-range attempts.
