TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Forestry, Rohmat Marzuki, reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to strengthening global integrity and collaboration in developing carbon markets. He made this statement at the Coalition to Grow Carbon Markets event, held at the Singapore Pavilion during the COP30 UNFCCC in Belem, Brazil, on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Rohmat also expressed appreciation to the founding countries of the Coalition to Grow Carbon Markets for their leadership in advancing a credible and transparent global carbon market.

"We appreciate the Government of Singapore as the Co-Chair of the Coalition for hosting an event that encourages joint action to mobilize private sector financing through carbon markets," Rohmat said in a written statement on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

As part of this collaborative spirit, Rohmat stated that the Indonesian Government also expressed gratitude to Kenya, the UK, Singapore, France, and Panama for their roles in forming the Coalition. Indonesia considers this initiative important for accelerating climate action and supporting sustainable development.

"Indonesia is committed to ensuring that the carbon market is credible, transparent, and beneficial to society and the environment, as well as supporting sustainable economic growth," he said.

Furthermore, Rohmat emphasized that Indonesia is currently strengthening its national carbon market architecture through the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 110 of 2025 concerning the Economic Value of Carbon (EVC). This regulation is a crucial foundation for building a strong, inclusive, and globally connected national carbon market ecosystem.

"Our strategy is clear, which is to ensure rule clarity, align national measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) standards with global practices, and attract investments to support nature-based mitigation solutions," he added.

Rohmat added that Indonesia welcomes the collaborative spirit promoted by the Coalition to Grow Carbon Markets and endorses the Shared Principles that direct companies and governments to use carbon credits with integrity.

"Indonesia is ready to collaborate with all partners to ensure that the carbon market is truly of high integrity, not only reducing emissions, but also enhancing the well-being of society, preserving biodiversity, and promoting sustainable development," he said.
