TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - U.S.-based business magazine Forbes has published its latest list of the world’s richest people, including updated rankings for Indonesia. The list is based on real-time wealth tracking using data from stock market movements, corporate financials, and asset valuations.
Several familiar names continue to dominate Indonesia’s billionaire ranks, including the Hartono brothers of Djarum and Bank Central Asia (BCA), coal magnate Low Tuck Kwong, and energy tycoon Prajogo Pangestu.
As of August 5, 2025, here are Indonesia’s top 10 wealthiest individuals, according to Forbes:
1. Low Tuck Kwong
Founder of coal mining company PT Bayan Resources, Low tops the list with a net worth of US$27.3 billion. His fortune has surged thanks to strong global coal demand and steady company performance.
2. Budi Hartono
Co-owner of BCA and Djarum Group, Budi has a personal wealth of US$22.4 billion. He is a long-time fixture among Indonesia’s richest due to his success in banking and tobacco.
3. Michael Hartono
Budi’s brother and business partner, Michael, owns similar stakes in BCA and Djarum. His wealth is estimated at US$21.5 billion, making him the third richest in the country.
4. Prajogo Pangestu
Founder of PT Barito Pacific, Prajogo holds US$20 billion in wealth. His business spans petrochemicals and energy, with recent expansion into green energy.
5. Sri Prakash Lohia
Chairperson of Indorama Corporation, a leading producer of textiles and petrochemicals. Based in Singapore but rooted in Indonesia, Lohia is worth US$8.5 billion.
6. Otto Toto Sugiri
CEO of PT DCI Indonesia Tbk, a Tier IV data center provider. With the digital economy booming, his net worth has reached US$7 billion.
7. Tahir Family
Founders of the Mayapada Group, active in banking, real estate, and healthcare. The family holds a combined fortune of US$5 billion.
8. Marina Budiman
President commissioner and co-founder of DCI Indonesia. She has built a strong presence in Indonesia’s tech infrastructure sector, with a net worth of US$4.9 billion.
9. Dewi Kam
A major figure in PT Bayan Resources, Dewi holds personal wealth of US$4.8 billion, reflecting the strength of the mining sector.
10. Agoes Projosasmito
Commissioner of Amman Mineral Internasional, a key player in copper and gold mining. His net worth stands at US$4.5 billion.
These individuals represent a diverse array of industries, from coal and petrochemicals to banking, technology, and mining, highlighting the broad economic foundations behind Indonesia’s billionaire class.
