TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Sugiono, emphasized the importance of exploring potential cooperation, particularly in the transmission grid, healthcare, and vocational education sectors, when receiving the honorary visit of the Sweden Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor Leste, and ASEAN, Daniel Blockert, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Sweden's investment value in Indonesia reached US$184 million or approximately Rp3 trillion in 2024 and is expected to continue increasing. This is in line with the efforts of both countries to strengthen energy transition and develop people-to-people relationships at various levels.
Meanwhile, the Indonesia-Sweden trade value reached over US$1.3 billion or approximately Rp21.3 trillion in 2024, marking an 18.9 percent increase compared to the previous year, which reached US$1.1 billion or approximately Rp18 trillion.
This makes Sweden the largest trading, investment, and tourism partner of Indonesia from the Nordic region, ahead of the 75th diplomatic anniversary of the two countries in 2025.
In addition to discussing bilateral cooperation, Minister Sugiono and Ambassador Blockert also exchanged views on the current global situation, which is a common concern, as part of a reflection of close and sustainable partnerships in various fields.
The Nordic region refers to the northern European region comprising several countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland.
