IMMIGRATION has revoked the passport of Jurist Tan on June 4, 2025. Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman said the revocation was carried out systematically. "While Jurist Tan still holds the passport," said Yuldi when confirmed on Wednesday, August 6, 2025

Jurist Tan is a corruption suspect in the procurement of Chromebook laptops at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the 2019-2022 period. The revocation of the passport coincides with the Attorney General's request for a travel ban against Jurist.

The Attorney General announced Jurist Tan as a suspect on July 15, 2025. The former special staff of the former Minister of Education and Culture and Technology, Nadiem Makarim, has also never once responded to the investigator's summons as he has been overseas.

Immigration data shows that Jurist Tan left Indonesia on May 13, 2025, to Singapore using Singapore Airlines. Since then, Jurist Tan has not been recorded returning.

The Attorney General has named four people as suspects in this case. The other suspects are former consultant of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Ibrahim Arief, Director of Elementary School of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the 2020-2021 period, Sri Wahyuningsih, and Director of Junior High School (SMP) of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the 2020-2021 period, Mulyatsyah. The Attorney General has detained Ibrahim as he suffers from chronic heart disease.

In this case, the suspects are alleged to have directed the procurement of laptops to Google products, namely Chromebook laptops. In the case construction released by the prosecutor's office, Nadiem's name also appears. The prosecutors accuse Nadiem of planning the procurement of Chromebook laptops. In June 2020, a study that favored Chrombook over Windows had just been published, but the decision to choose Chromebook had already been made at a Zoom Meeting on May 6, 2020, attended by the suspects. The meeting is suspected to have been chaired by Nadiem.

Although Nadiem's name has been repeatedly mentioned in the case construction, the Attorney General has not declared him as a suspect. The Attorney General stated that further evidence examination is needed to strengthen Nadiem's involvement.

The prosecutor's office is also investigating the possible connection between Google's investment in Gojek and the procurement of Chromebook laptops. Gojek is a company founded by Nadiem.
