TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta Aquarium & Safari (JAQS) has welcomed the birth of two Humboldt penguin chicks, now the newest members of its growing animal family. The successful hatching marks a milestone for the facility, which continues to strengthen its role in conservation through breeding programs and habitat simulation efforts.

The chicks were born as part of ongoing initiatives to maintain healthy animal populations within the facility. JAQS hopes the births will pave the way for more successful breeding outcomes in the future, particularly for species under threat in the wild.

“We hope more animals will be born healthy at JAQS,” said Angela Stella, General Manager of Jakarta Aquarium & Safari, in a statement in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday, April 18, as quoted by Antara.

The two baby penguins have not yet been named and are currently under the care of the Jakarta Aquarium & Safari Life and Science team to ensure their optimal growth and development.

Angela noted that the births serve as proof that Jakarta Aquarium & Safari is able to create a healthy and safe environment for animals, akin to their natural habitats. This success also strengthens JAQS’s standing as a modern conservation institution that functions not only as an educational and recreational destination but also plays an active role in wildlife and environmental preservation.

Jakarta Aquarium & Safari will continue to expand its conservation programs and public education campaigns. “JAQS invites the public to welcome the arrival of these new family members and become part of the mission to conserve wildlife in Indonesia,” Angela said.

Jakarta Aquarium & Safari (JAQS) is the largest indoor aquarium attraction in Indonesia, established through a partnership between Taman Safari Indonesia and Aquaria KLCC, Malaysia. Since its opening in 2017, JAQS has housed over 3,500 aquatic and non-aquatic animals.
