Jakarta Governor Targets 550 TransJakarta Electric Buses to Operate by 2025

1 month ago 27

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that 550 TransJakarta electric buses will be in operation to serve the residents until the end of 2025. This target was conveyed by Pramono during the inauguration of the integrated transportation service TransJabodetabek Corridor 1W, Blok M-Ancol route at the Transjakarta Ancol bus stop in North Jakarta on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Pramono stated that the Blok M-Ancol route will fully utilize electric buses as part of the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to significantly reduce vehicle emissions.

"This year, we target to have 200 electric buses in operation. Currently, 70 buses are already operational and the remaining 130 will soon follow," he said. "Additionally, there are already 300 electric cars in operation. So, there will be a total of 550 electric vehicles in operation in Jakarta by the end of 2025," said Pramono, as quoted from the Jakarta Provincial Government's official statement on Saturday, July 27, 2025.

With the operation of hundreds of electric buses, Pramono stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government targets zero percent emissions by improving air quality through the reduction of pollution, emissions, and carbon. He also conveyed this target during a speech at a United Nations (UN) meeting in New York last week as part of Jakarta's efforts to improve air quality.

"We are truly committed to doing this. As I mentioned at the UN last week, one of them is related to Jakarta's transportation, which significantly reduces emissions," he said. "Therefore, the 13 bus units on the Blok M-Ancol route will routinely contribute to the gradual reduction of pollution. Most importantly, Ancol will become a new hub after Blok M."

Furthermore, he also targets 50 percent of the Transjakarta fleet to be electric-based by 2027 and 100 percent by 2030. This program will be implemented gradually starting from 2022-2023 with the procurement of 100 electric buses for operational testing purposes.

"This effort is a concrete step by Transjakarta in supporting emission reduction and promoting the creation of a more sustainable public transportation system for the people of Jakarta," he said.

As for the details of the newly inaugurated TransJabodetabek Corridor 1W, Blok M-Ancol route, it has a track length of 48.7 km (round trip) with a fleet size of 13 units (electric buses).

The Blok M-Ancol Corridor 1W route has 11 stopping points, 10 of which are Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stops. The estimated travel time for this corridor is approximately 120-160 minutes (round trip).

As for the stopping points in the Ancol direction, they consist of Blok M Line 5 (Bus Stop); ASEAN (Stop); Great Mosque (Stop); Senayan Roundabout (Stop); Senayan Bank DKI (Stop); Pemuda Gate West Direction (Stop); Petamburan (Stop); Ancol (Stop).

Meanwhile, the stopping points in the Blok M direction consist of Ancol (Stop); JIEXPO Kemayoran (Stop); Southern Kemanggisan Direction (Stop); Petamburan (Stop); Pemuda Gate East Direction (Stop); Senayan Bank DKI (Stop); Senayan Roundabout (Stop); Great Mosque (Stop); Attorney General's Office (Stop); Blok M Line 5 (Bus Stop).
