TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police will deploy 256 personnel for a large-scale patrol in the city this afternoon, Friday, September 12, 2025. The police's chief officer in charge of the operational bureau of Jakarta Metro Police, Police Superintendent Dimas Prasetyo, said the patrol serves as a preventive measure to maintain order after the wave of protests in late August.
"To date, intensive patrols continue in densely populated areas, crime-prone areas, and other necessary locations," Dimas said in a press release on Friday, September 12, 2025.
The large-scale patrol is divided into two groups with different routes. The first group combs through the areas of North Jakarta, East Jakarta, and Central Jakarta. The route begins from the Jakarta Metro Police to Otista Raya (Kampung Melayu), Matraman, Pramuka, Pelabuhan, Gunung Sahari, Kramat Raya, back to Matraman, then continues to Manggarai, Tebet, Pancoran, and ends back at the Jakarta Metro Police.
Meanwhile, the second group operates in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and South Jakarta. The personnel depart from the Jakarta Metro Police to Fatmawati, Lebak Bulus, Pondok Indah, Arteri Permata Hijau, Tentara Pelajar, Palmerah, Tomang, Harmoni, Monas, and return to the station.
Dimas said the joint personnel deployed in the patrol consist of the Jakarta Metro Police Mobile Brigade, Traffic Directorate, Security and Order Directorate, Intelligence and Security Directorate, Criminal Investigation Directorate, Special Criminal Directorate, Narcotics Directorate, and community groups.
In the future, the patrol will focus more on residential areas, high-traffic locations, and crime-prone areas.
According to Dimas, the main goal of this patrol is to bring a sense of security to the public. This large-scale patrol is also part of the Jaga Jakarta+ program initiated by the Jakarta Metro Police Chief. "Our goal is simple, to ensure that the public truly feels secure," said Dimas.
The Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Director, Grand Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, said the police will continue to conduct large-scale patrols in response to the vandalism of public facilities and riots that occurred during the demonstrations.
Ade Ary said the patrol activities are carried out daily at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. local time. The patrols are also conducted by the 13 resort police under the Jakarta Metro Police jurisdiction.
