Most Food Commodity Prices Climb Ahead of Eid in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prices of 15 essential food commodities in Indonesia increased on Friday, March 20, 2026, just a day before the start of Eid al-Fitr. The only item to maintain a stable price was imported soybeans.

According to data from the Ministry of Trade’s Market Monitoring and Basic Needs System (SP2KP), imported soybeans were recorded at Rp13,263 per kilogram. While stable compared to Thursday, this price remains above the government’s reference purchase price (HAP) of Rp12,000 per kilogram.

Among the daily price changes, large red chili peppers saw the sharpest increase, rising 1.9 percent to Rp50,756 per kilogram. This price falls within the government’s reference range of Rp37,000 to Rp55,000 per kilogram.

The full list of commodities that experienced a price increase on Friday is as follows:

  1. Medium rice: Rp13,694/kg (+0.12%)

  2. Premium rice: Rp15,353/kg (+0.05%)

  3. Bulk granulated sugar: Rp18,051/kg (+0.16%)

  4. Premium packaged palm oil: Rp21,269/liter (+0.02%)

  5. Bulk palm oil: Rp18,913/liter (+0.04%)

  6. Cooking oil: Rp15,877/liter (+0.01%)

  7. Rump beef: Rp144,335/kg (+0.32%)

  8. Chicken meat: Rp42,903/kg (+1.26%)

  9. Chicken eggs: Rp31,375/kg (+0.17%)

  10. Wheat flour: Rp12,450/kg (+0.10%)

  11. Curly red chili: Rp47,522/kg (+1.55%)

  12. Red cayenne pepper: Rp84,409/kg (+0.69%)

  13. Large red chili: Rp50,756/kg (+1.90%)

  14. Shallots: Rp41,406/kg (+0.65%)

  15. Honan garlic: Rp36,649/kg (+0.44%)
