TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the Government Communication Agency is a transformation of the former Presidential Communication Office (PCO), aimed at improving public communication.
"After evaluating the PCO, we realized it needed improvements in communication, so we established a new agency," Prasetyo said at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
The Gerindra politician added that the agency will not only serve the Presidential Office but will also coordinate communication across central, provincial, and regional governments regarding all government programs.
He explained that the agency’s structure and functions will be formalized in a new Presidential Decree, which transfers the PCO’s duties to the Government Communication Agency.
"For now, the PCO team will temporarily transition to the new agency," Prasetyo added.
President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Angga Raka Prabowo as the Head of the Government Communication Agency at the State Palace on the same day.
The reshuffle is outlined in Presidential Decree Numbers 96B and 97B of 2025, covering the dismissal of the Head of Presidential Communication, the Head and Deputy Head of Presidential Staff, and the appointment of the Head and Deputy Head of the new agency, as well as the Presidential Staff and Special Advisor for Public Order, Security, and Police Reform.
Under the decree, Hasan Nasbi was dismissed as Head of Presidential Communication, and Angga Raka Prabowo was appointed as the new Head of the Government Communication Agency. Despite the new role, Angga will continue serving as Deputy Minister of Communication and Information.
