TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metropolitan Police urge the public not to live stream the protests taking place in front of the House of Representatives/People's Consultative Assembly (DPR/MPR) building today, August 28, 2025. This advice comes after last Monday's protest ended in chaos.

The Head of Public Relations at Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, believes that live streaming actually obscures the substance and demands of the protest. "This new method, hopefully, will not happen again, encouraging the public to participate in the action live on TikTok," said Ade on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025.

According to Ade, the purpose of live streaming the protests deviates from the good intentions of the participants to express their opinions. "(Live streaming) hopes for gifts or prizes, and so on. We hope this will not happen again," said Ade.

Ade said that the police will officially convey all information related to the situation's development on the ground. The public can access this information through the Metro Jaya Police TMC account or by contacting 110.

Around 3,000 protesters from the Labor Party will hold a demonstration on the streets in front of the DPR/MPR building today, August 28, 2025. The President of the Labor Party, Said Iqbal, ensured that the laborers would conduct a peaceful demonstration.

Said is committed to ensuring that the laborer protesters will act in an orderly and non-anarchic manner. "I appeal for the August 28th demonstration to be peaceful, orderly, without any commotion, and without violence," said Said in his statement on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025.

In addition to laborers, some protesters represent the People's Meeting for Climate Justice 2025. They will also demonstrate in front of the DPR/MPR building. The number of protesters is around 200 people. They will bring demands for Climate Justice 2025 and the enactment of the Climate Justice Bill.

Meanwhile, from the student and youth elements, there are representatives from the Executive Board of Indraprasta PGRI University Students, the Indonesian Muslim Students' Union (SEMMI), the Islamic Student Association (HMI), the Executive Board of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Students of Muhammadiyah Jakarta University, and the National Anti-Corruption Forum (FANATIK). The total number of protesters is around 420 people.
