TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a series of meetings with his cabinet members in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java on Sunday, March 8, 2026. According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, President Prabowo attended five different meetings at his private residence on Sunday.
"From Sunday afternoon until evening, President Prabowo Subianto held five different meetings, summoning several members of the Red and White Cabinet to his residence in Hambalang," said Teddy in a written statement.
In these meetings, Teddy said, Prabowo requested the ministers to provide reports on strategic issues both domestically and internationally. He mentioned that each meeting had different topics.
Teddy mentioned that in the first meeting, Prabowo discussed the collaboration for the construction of ten new specialized campuses in the country. He said that these universities would specialize in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The second meeting discussed the development of existing universities in Indonesia. "Progress in developing several state universities to increase their global rankings and to expand cooperation with leading universities worldwide," said Teddy.
The third meeting, according to Teddy, discussed the situation in the Middle East. The region is currently in turmoil following the military attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, which resulted in the death of several leaders of the Gulf countries.
The fourth meeting, according to Teddy, discussed the progress of Palestinian students studying at the University of Defense. "When he was Minister of Defense, since 2022 President Prabowo has invited 20-40 Palestinian children to study in Indonesia, and now the number has reached nearly 200 students," he said.
While the last meeting discussed security and the smooth running of the annual exodus (mudik), especially because the period leading up to the Eid al-Fitr is approaching.
The meeting in Hambalang was attended by several officials. In addition to the ministers, senior officials from state-owned defense company PT Pindad (Persero) and the leadership of the University of Defense were also present.
Among the ministers summoned to his residence by Prabowo were Minister of Research and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Deputy Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan. Other participants in the meeting were the Rector of the University of Defense and the President Director of PT Pindad Sigit Santosa.
