TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto confirmed that a replacement for Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer, better known as Noel, has already been decided. However, he did not reveal the name or when the official announcement will be made.
“Yes, just be assured. It’s all been taken care of,” Prabowo told reporters in Cawang, East Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Noel was dismissed from his post after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named him a suspect in an extortion case involving companies applying for occupational safety and health (OSH) certificates at the Ministry of Manpower.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that Prabowo had signed a presidential decree to remove Noel from his position. “The President has signed a presidential decree regarding the dismissal,” Prasetyo said in a statement on Friday, August 22, 2025.
The KPK accused Noel of extorting companies seeking OSH certificates. Instead of paying the official fee of Rp275,000, companies were reportedly charged up to Rp6 million.
KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu said the practice had been ongoing since 2019. Although Noel only took office in 2024, he allegedly allowed the scheme to continue and even demanded a share. Investigators said Noel received Rp3 billion and a Ducati motorbike.
The case stemmed from a KPK sting operation on August 20, which led to the arrest of 14 people, including Ministry of Manpower employees and private parties. In total, 11 people, including Noel, have been named suspects.
After being dismissed, Noel publicly apologized to President Prabowo and asked for forgiveness. He denied involvement in the extortion scheme and even requested amnesty from the president.
