TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto summoned several members of the Red and White Cabinet to the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. They discussed various topics, specifically concerning infrastructure and regional development.
The officials meeting with Prabowo included Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, and Head of the North Coast Java Authority Didit Herdiawan.
"We have just met with the President at the Merdeka Palace to report on several strategic issues," Agus said after the meeting, which lasted from Tuesday afternoon until late at night.
According to Agus, the first issue reported to the President was the development and protection concept for the Northern Coast of Java (Pantura). One of the topics discussed was the giant sea wall project to address land subsidence and tidal flooding.
Secondly, the ministers reported on rehabilitation and reconstruction progress following natural disasters in Sumatra. "In general, there has been good progress, although some issues remain challenges in the field," Agus stated.
Thirdly, they discussed the development of the national railway network. "Especially for Trans-Sumatra, Trans-Kalimantan, and also partly in Sulawesi," the Democratic Party chairperson mentioned.
Fourthly, Agus mentioned that Prabowo discussed steps to be taken following the train accident at East Bekasi Station. The President, according to Agus, wants to improve level crossings that pose accident risks.
"There are approximately 76 level crossings in Java and part of Sumatra that need immediate development, whether it's railway gates, flyovers, or underpasses," he remarked.
Fifthly, Agus conveyed that the ministers reported on infrastructure development and local roads in accordance with Prabowo's instructions. "We hope that in the next year or two, the condition of infrastructure in the regions will improve and become more economically beneficial," he said.
Lastly, Agus stated that Prabowo discussed the Indonesian ASRI Movement. Through this movement, Prabowo hopes to resolve waste issues and transform slum areas into healthier, more pleasant environments. The President, according to Agus, hopes the waste problem can be resolved promptly to enhance Indonesia's beauty and tourism potential.
