TEMPO.COJakarta - President Prabowo Subianto launched the use of the Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) or digital interactive board in schools while directly reviewing its preparedness at State Junior High School or SMPN 4 Kota Bekasi, West Java, on Monday, November 17, 2025.

President Prabowo arrived around 10:50 a.m. wearing a brown safari suit. He was welcomed by a performance from the school's marching band.

Prabowo then inspected one of the classrooms to observe the learning process using the smartboard. He sat in a classroom chair and listened to the teacher's lesson.

During his visit, Prabowo was accompanied by several ministers: Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti; Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian; and Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid. Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, also accompanied the President.

Indarwati Komariah, a teacher at SMPN 4 Kota Bekasi, said the digital interactive board makes children more enthusiastic and enables direct interaction. She explained that the digital interactive board provides various learning resources, such as dedicated student learning spaces.

"Children can explore by doing digital literacy because there are digital books available. Also, there are games and activities that can sharpen their analytical thinking," she said.

Indarwati added that the interactive board also features a virtual lab for students to practice without having to source physical materials. According to her, this laboratory is beneficial because it presents materials that students encounter in daily life.

"For example, when they learn about the heart, it is depicted how the heart beats and functions. So it's more realistic and closer to their lives, which aligns with the current goal of meaningful, in-depth learning," she explained.

Previously, Minister Abdul Mu'ti said that there are currently only 50,000 interactive smart boards being utilized in schools across Indonesia. "Currently, more than 50,000 are in use and more than 150,000 have been delivered," said Mu'ti at the Ministry of Education and Culture building in South Jakarta, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The Ministry of Education and Culture targets the distribution of IFP units in 2025 to reach 288,000. Mu'ti stated that this goal aims to ensure every school receives at least one IFP for use in teaching and learning activities.

The government plans to significantly increase the distribution of IFP units next year. "Next year, as promised by the President in a cabinet meeting, three units will be distributed to each school in 2026. It is hoped that there will be four IFPs in each school," he concluded.
