TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Chairperson of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) DPP, Danik Eka Rahmanigtyas, has condemned the forced disbandment of a Christian student retreat in the Cidahu District of Sukabumi Regency. She referred to the action as a form of intolerance.

"The perpetrators have violated the constitutional rights of every citizen to practice their respective beliefs and religions," said Danik, based on a press release on Monday, June 30, 2025.

Danik urged the police to earnestly investigate the case. "The law must be upheld. Investigation and prosecution must be carried out promptly. The perpetrators should be given a fitting punishment to serve as a deterrent," Danik continued.

Danik hopes that similar incidents will not occur again. She also called on local authorities and the police to be more vigilant against the ongoing practices of intolerance. "Finally, PSI urges all parties to remain calm and patient, and not to be provoked. We leave the process to the legal authorities," Danik concluded.

The Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, stated that seven individuals have been named as suspects in the forced disbandment of the Christian student retreat in Cidahu, Sukabumi on Friday, June 27, 2025.

"The West Java Regional Police Chief and the Palabuhan Ratu District Police Chief quickly took action last night, and based on the information I received, seven suspects for the destruction of the house of Mrs. Nina in Tangkil Village, Cidahu District, Sukabumi Regency, have been named," Dedi stated in his Instagram post on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Tempo has been granted permission to quote the statement.

Previously, a video of the alleged destruction of a house used for worship in Cidahu, Sukabumi, West Java, went viral on social media. The @sukabumisatu Instagram account mentioned that hundreds of residents in the village of Cidahu held a demonstration in Tangkil Village RT 04/01 on Friday, June 27, 2025.

In the video shared by the account, a group of individuals were seen removing what appeared to be a wooden cross. The shouting residents then proceeded to destroy several house facilities, including glass windows. They also smashed tables and chairs in the house's yard.

The Indonesian Christian Youth Movement (GAMKI) stated that the incident in Cidahu involved the forced disbandment of a Christian student retreat. The incident took place on Friday around 2:00 PM.

The Bogor branch of GAMKI immediately investigated the incident. GAMKI mentioned that the worship activity was forcibly disbanded by a group of residents citing lack of permission. Furthermore, there were alleged acts of destruction and intimidation against the participants, most of whom were students.

According to GAMKI Bogor, these actions represent a clear form of intolerance that not only hurts the spirit of diversity, "But also violates the constitutional rights of every citizen to practice their beliefs and religions," said the Secretary of the Bogor GAMKI DPD, Andry Simorangkir, as quoted from the official website on Monday, June 30, 2025.
