Four Spanish nationals who became victims of the sinking of the Putri Sakinah motorboat in the Padar Strait, Komodo National Park, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia, have not been found yet. The joint SAR (Search and Rescue) team continues to make efforts to search for the four victims.
"Since the incident last night, the NTT Regional Police Water and Air Police Division, together with the joint SAR team, have evacuated the survivors and conducted intensive searches at sea," said NTT Regional Police Public Relations Head Grand Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra in his statement on Monday, December 29, 2025.
Henry explained that to expedite the search for the victims and the wreckage of the ship, the NTT Regional Police deployed a sonar system to detect objects at the bottom of the sea, an underwater drone (ROV) for visual observation, and a professional diving team from the Water and Air Police Directorate (Ditpolairud).
"The search area has also been expanded to a radius of 5.25 nautical miles by deploying various sea fleets, including RIBs, KPC Ditpolairud patrol boats, and the KN SAR Puntadewa owned by Basarnas," said Henry.
In addition to field operations, the NTT Regional Police is coordinating intensively with the Spanish Embassy, the Ministry of Tourism, and other relevant agencies to accompany the families of the victims and support the investigation process. "We ensure that all handling is carried out professionally, transparently, and based on humanitarian values," he said.
