TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At the head of a round table, President Prabowo Subianto sat facing a large monitor on Saturday, March 28, 2026. On the screen, the faces of ministers appeared in small boxes, connected from various locations. From his residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, Prabowo led an important meeting from midday until late afternoon that day.
"It's a limited meeting to determine adjustments and several economic and energy policies," Cabinet Secretar Teddy Indra Wijaya said that same day. He noted that 15 ministers from the Red and White Cabinet attended the video conference.
A day earlier, on Friday, March 27, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto discussed the same topic with several technical ministers at his office in the Lapangan Banteng area of Central Jakarta. The results were reported to Prabowo at the State Palace later that afternoon.
No details emerged from the virtual meeting led by Prabowo. But since Saturday morning, March 28, information circulated among journalists that the government would announce a policy response to the geopolitical turmoil in the Middle East. Reporters were asked to stand by for a press conference that day on economic and energy conditions. Yet by Saturday evening, the expected announcement of new policy had not materialized.
