TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A mass shooting at a restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, United States, left three people dead and eight others injured. According to the NY Post, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 17, 2025, just before the restaurant closed, when several armed men opened fire.

Police responded to a shooting report at the Taste of the City Lounge, located at 903 Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights, just before 03:30 AM, New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a press conference.

The victims were identified as three men, aged 27 and 35, with one victim’s age not specified. Eight others were taken to a local hospital, though their conditions were not disclosed.

No arrests have been made, and the suspects have not yet been identified. At least 36 bullet casings were recovered from the scene.

“We have the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year we’ve seen on record in the city of New York,” Tisch said. “Something like this is, of course, thank god, an anomaly and it’s a terrible thing that’s happened this morning.”

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) has launched an investigation into the early morning shooting. Video posted on X shows officers inside the restaurant near pools of blood and shattered glass.

Taste of the City Lounge offers American and Caribbean cuisine, a full bar, hookah, and a DJ. The restaurant, which opened in 2022, is located less than half a mile from the historic Brooklyn Museum and closes at 03:00 AM on Sundays.
