Thunderstorms Expected in Jakarta This Afternoon, Says BMKG

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts heavy rain with thunderstorms in Jakarta this afternoon, Friday, July 4, 2025. Meanwhile, surrounding areas such as Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi are expecting light rain.

The weather forecast is monitored through the official website at bmkg.go.id and BMKG's official Instagram account.

According to BMKG's prediction, heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected to hit West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, and North Jakarta from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time today. Similar weather is also expected for East Jakarta, but earlier in the day, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Meanwhile, drizzles are expected to wet Thousand Islands this morning, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Overall, the temperature in Jakarta is estimated to range from 23-30 degrees Celsius, with wind speeds of about 1-20 kilometers per hour.

In West Java, light to moderate rain is expected to shower several areas in Bogor Regency and Bogor City from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Light rain is also likely to hit Depok City, Bekasi Regency, and Bekasi City in the afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The temperature in Bogor Regency is about 18-31 degrees Celsius, while in other areas, it ranges from 20-33 degrees Celsius. Wind speeds are observed around 4-10 kilometers per hour.

In Banten, light rain is likely to shower Tangerang Regency, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang City. BMKG estimates the temperature in these three regions to range from 23-30 degrees Celsius.
