The Indonesian Traditional Fishermen's Union (KNTI) highlights the declining welfare of national fishermen in recent years. The Chair of KNTI, Dani Setiawan, said the Fishermen's Exchange Rate (NTN) has been decreasing since 2022.

"Data from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) shows a downward trend in the NTN since 2022. Although there has been a slight improvement in August 2025 compared to the previous year, the fishermen's conditions remain worse than during the pandemic," Dani said in a written statement commemorating World Food Day on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

2. Indonesia's Digital Economy Unfazed by Tariff Barriers, Government Claims

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto claimed that Indonesia's digital economy is not afraid of tariff barriers resulting from trade wars. Airlangga said that the potential value of Indonesia's digital economy sector has now reached US$150 billion.

"In the digital sector, we are very dominant. In fact, the value of our digital economy is US$150 billion. And the digital economy is not afraid of tariffs," said Airlangga during the event commemorating the First Year of the Prabowo-Gibran Government at Hotel JS Luwansa, Jakarta, on Thursday, October 16, 2025. He mentioned that one indicator of digital economic development is the 8 percent growth of logistics and warehousing businesses.
