The following is the list of the top 3 news on Tempo English today:
1. Healthy Choices: Indonesians Rely on Healthcare Professionals for Supplement Information
The health and fitness platform Herbalife has released a health survey on supplements titled the Asia Pacific Responsible Supplementation 2025 Survey. The data revealed that despite the widespread use of health supplements in Indonesia, there is still a lack of confidence in making the right supplement decisions.
As many as 88 percent of consumers in Indonesia routinely consume health supplements. However, only 69 percent of them feel confident in choosing responsible supplements.
Oktrianto Wahyu Jatmiko, the Director & General Manager of Herbalife Indonesia, stated that the survey aims to support a healthy lifestyle for the Indonesian people. He emphasized the importance of education on safe, high-quality, and Sharia-compliant supplements. "We are committed to ensuring that everyone has a strong foundation of knowledge to make the best decisions for their health," said Oktrianto.
2. Indonesia Falls 3-0 to Australia in AFF U-16 Women's Cup Semifinal
The Indonesian U-16 women’s national team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Australia in the semifinal of the AFF U-16 Women’s Cup 2025, ending their hopes of reaching the final. The match took place at Manahan Stadium in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
Australia took control early in the game, with Abbie Skyce Pucket scoring twice in the first half. Kaya Jugovic added a third goal in the 69th minute, sealing Australia’s victory.
With this win, Australia advanced to the final to face Thailand, who defeated Vietnam 3-1 in the other semifinal. Indonesia will now meet Vietnam in the third-place match on Friday, August 29, at 15:30 WIB, with the final scheduled later the same day at 19:30 WIB.
3. High School and Vocational Students Banned from August 28 Protest
Indonesia's Department of Education has prohibited students from participating in today's protest, Thursday, August 28, 2025. For example, the Banten Provincial Department of Education has issued a circular banning students from participating in protests. The ban has been socialized to schools in the area.
One of the high school students (SMA) in Banten, West Java, Iwan — not his real name, said he received the circular. He feels that the government is overly monitoring them. "Yesterday afternoon, there was a circular from the Banten Provincial Department of Education to the school principals. The letter was forwarded to the student's WhatsApp group. Then, the parents conveyed it to their respective children," Iwan said when contacted on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
