TEMPO.CO, Jakarta PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) estimates that Whoosh passenger volume will increase by up to 4 percent during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming season compared to last year.

"Whoosh is a transportation option for people looking for fast and comfortable intercity travel during the Eid al-Fitr period," said Eva Chairunisa, General Manager and Corporate Secretary of KCIC, in a written statement on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

With this potential increase, Eva estimates that Whoosh passengers could reach 301,000 people during this Eid al-Fitr period. This figure is an increase compared to the 290,000 passengers carried by Whoosh during Eid al-Fitr 2025.

Eva stated that the increase in passenger numbers is evident in the potential for a higher daily passenger surge compared to the previous year.

She cited the peak daily passenger numbers for Eid al-Fitr 2025, which were recorded at around 23,000 people per day. Meanwhile, daily passenger numbers are predicted to approach 25,000 passengers per day this year.

Eva estimates that peak passenger movements will occur during two main periods. The increase in passenger volume is expected to begin on March 17, 2026, and continue to rise until Eid al-Fitr approaches, with the peak exodus expected to occur the day before Eid, or March 20, 2026.

A surge in passengers is also expected to occur two days after Eid, or on March 22, 2026.

Reflecting on ticket purchasing patterns during previous years' Eid al-Fitr, Eva stated that sales generally increase closer to the departure date.

This purchasing pattern, according to Eva, is due to the relatively short journey time of around 30 minutes on Whoosh. As a result, many people choose to perform Eid al-Fitr prayers in their hometowns before traveling by Whoosh for sightseeing or visiting relatives.

On Eid al-Fitr, Eva estimates that the daily passenger count could reach nearly 25,000 people per day. Eva stated that, based on preliminary data, more than 25,000 tickets have been sold for departures between March 15 and 21, 2026.

Of this number, Eva stated that the day with the highest number of bookings was March 18, 2026. The number of ticket reservations will continue to increase as the departure date approaches.

Whoosh travel tickets for the Eid al-Fitr period can now be booked through all official Whoosh sales channels, both offline and online. Consumers can purchase through the Whoosh app, the ticket.kcic.co.id website, and partner apps such as Access by KAI, Livin' by Mandiri, BRImo, Wondr by BNI, Tiket.com, Traveloka, and Trip.com.
