TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jordan's Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), in cooperation with international aid agencies and in coordination with the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF), has sent four aid convoys via land route to the Gaza Strip, as reported by Antara on Wednesday, July 23.
The convoys carried staple food supplies, primarily flour, as part of Jordan's ongoing efforts to send humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave.
Meanwhile, additional aid convoys are being prepared while waiting for assurances for safe delivery and distribution of aid to those in need.
A total of 147 trucks were dispatched through three convoys in coordination with the World Food Programme (WFP) that facilitated the entry of 111 trucks, and the World Central Kitchen, which organized 36 trucks.
The latest convoy, consisting of 36 trucks, entered Gaza on Tuesday after coordination between JHCO and relevant parties, along with logistical support from the World Central Kitchen, according to Petra.
In a statement, JHCO stated that the latest aid convoy entered the "Zikim" border after the World Central Kitchen committed to securing entry access and monitoring the distribution of supplies to affected residents.
JHCO continues its efforts to facilitate the distribution of humanitarian aid through various routes, reaffirming Jordan's unwavering role in supporting the Palestinian people and responding to the increasing needs in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, a senior UN official said on Wednesday that 294 Palestinians were killed by Israel while attempting to collect humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip since June 30.
"I brief you today as intensive talks continue over a potential Gaza ceasefire agreement and release of hostages," said Khaled Khiari, Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East and Asia Pacific, to the UN Security Council, as reported by Anadolu.
He said the situation in Gaza "continues to deteriorate, with Israeli military operations and hostilities expanding throughout the Strip and the human toll mounting by the hour."
Citing the Health Ministry in Gaza, Khiari said at least 1,891 Palestinians have been killed since his last briefing on June 30. He said 294 people were killed "while attempting to collect aid, including in the vicinity of militarized aid distribution sites."
Israel has killed over 59,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, crippled the healthcare system, and caused severe food shortages.
Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its war in the enclave.
