Heavy rain that has been pouring over Jakarta and its surrounding areas since early morning has caused flooding in several areas of the capital city. The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded that as of Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 06:00 AM, 28 neighborhood units (RT) and 6 road segments are still inundated.
The head of the Data and Information Center of BPBD Jakarta, Mohamad Yohan, said that the flooding occurred due to the high intensity of rain. "High-intensity rain has caused an increase in water discharge and flooding in several areas," Yohan said in his written statement on Tuesday morning, January 13, 2026.
In West Jakarta, inundation was recorded in 9 RTs spread across Tegal Alur and South Kedoya with water levels ranging from 30 to 35 centimeters. Meanwhile, North Jakarta became the area with the most inundation, with 19 RTs in eight sub-districts, including Cilincing, Kalibaru, Semper Barat, Sukapura, Lagoa, Kebon Bawang, Tanjung Priok, and Warakas. The water levels in this area varied from 10 to 60 centimeters.
BPBD also noted that the flooding forced hundreds of residents to evacuate. Evacuation sites are spread across apartments, schools, places of worship, and public facilities. The largest number of evacuees is in Semper Barat, North Jakarta, with 207 households or 625 individuals taking shelter in the Embrio Apartment complex.
In addition to residential areas, flooding also submerged 6 road segments in North Jakarta, including Swasembada Raya Street in Kebon Bawang, Kampung Bahari Street in Tanjung Priok, Gunung Sahari Street in West Pademangan, R.E. Martadinata Street in Ancol, Syech Nawawi Al Bantani Street in Semper Barat, and Muara Baru Street in Penjaringan. The water level on these road segments ranged from 10 to 40 centimeters.
Several areas and road segments that were previously reported as flooded have receded, including in Kamal, Kampung Melayu, West Cengkareng, Rawa Buaya, as well as the Pegangsaan Dua and Tugu Utara areas.
Yohan said that BPBD Jakarta has deployed personnel to monitor the inundated areas and coordinate with the Water Resources Agency, the Highways Agency, as well as the Fire and Rescue Agency.
"Efforts are being made through water pumping, ensuring the functioning of water channels, and providing basic needs for the survivors. The flooding is targeted to recede quickly," he said.
