TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, is currently undergoing physiotherapy, three months after being targeted in an acid attack by personnel from the National Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
Andrie has been undergoing physiotherapy for the past month, after going through a recovery process and several operations at the Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. "Physiotherapy is to restore motor functions," said KontraS Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya to reporters at the Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Dimas revealed that Andrie can now perform light exercise movements and has begun to resume normal activities. "He can now take a shower," he said.
In addition, Andrie is now reportedly able to use his hands to eat again. "He can now eat without being spoon-fed," Dimas said.
Prior to this, Andrie's hand muscles had experienced contraction after a skin graft operation. According to him, Andrie's hand would sometimes feel stiff if not moved frequently.
Meanwhile, regarding Andrie's eye condition affected by the acid attack, Dimas admitted that he has not received further information from the doctor.
However, based on information from the RSCM team last April, Andrie is expected to undergo another eye operation two months from now. "There will be a follow-up operation regarding his right eye in August," said Dimas.
Andrie is no longer receiving treatment at the hospital, but has been permitted by the doctor to receive outpatient care.
Prior to this, Andrie was attacked with acid by two unidentified individuals on Thursday night, March 12, 2026, around 11:37 PM at Talang, Salemba I Street, Central Jakarta. The two individuals were revealed to be part of a group of Bais TNI members.
Andrie then sought treatment at the Emergency Department of RSCM on Friday early morning, March 13, 2026, around 12 AM with complaints of burns on his face, neck, chest, back, and both arms, accompanied by impaired vision in his right eye. He suffered burns on more than 20 percent of his body.
Currently, four Bais TNI members have been tried and sentenced to 1.5 to 3 years in prison at the II-08 Jakarta Military Court. They are Second Sergeant Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi Cahyono, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka. Edi and Budhi have also been subjected to additional punishment in the form of dismissal from military service.
