TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's U-23 national team is down 1-0 to Vietnam in the first half of the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup final at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 29.
The Young Garuda squad, led by Jens Raven, kicked off the match with an attacking mindset, persistently pressuring Vietnam’s defense but struggling to score.
The match was intense early on. In the 14th minute, Kadek Arel was shown a yellow card after committing a foul.
A promising chance came in the 30th minute when Rayhan broke through and faced the goalkeeper, but he was unable to finish the play.
Seven minutes later, in the 37th minute, Indonesia conceded a goal as Nguyen Chong Phuong converted from a corner kick.
Despite generating multiple opportunities, the Young Garuda failed to level the score before the halftime whistle.
