TEMPO.CO, Jakarta An all-time high of 41 degrees Celsius was recorded in Austria on Tuesday, coinciding with wildfires and low water levels of the Danube River in the Alpine country.

According to Austrian state broadcaster ORF, the all-time high temperature was measured in the Stammersdorf area of the Austrian capital, Vienna, on Tuesday afternoon.

Wildfires are raging in the Austrian state of Burgenland, while Vienna's Lobau wetlands are experiencing "the highest fire danger level," Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung said, adding that eastern Austria was at the center of a European heatwave on Tuesday, as quoted by ANTARA.

The water level in the Danube River is currently at its lowest level in history. The current period of low water levels is comparable to the most significant years to date, namely 2003 and 2018, according to Kronen Zeitung.

The current heat wave is heading towards its peak on Tuesday and Wednesday. Meteorologists are also predicting an all-time high temperature for Wednesday, ORF said.
