TEMPO.COJakarta - Indonesia's Bandung area is currently experiencing cold temperatures ranging from 19-20 degrees Celsius. Teguh Rahayu, Head of the Bandung Geophysical Station at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), explained that this is due to the heavy cloud cover seen over the past few days.

"The heat released after rain, along with wind convergence and deflection, have resulted in stronger wind speeds in the Bandung area," Rahayu said in a statement on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Wind gusts in Bandung can reach 20 kilometers per hour, dominated by westerly winds or the Asian monsoon. Previously, on January 4 and 8, 2026, the BMKG recorded the coldest temperature in Bandung at 20.2 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in the Greater Bandung area was around 30-32 degrees Celsius.

The BMKG predicts these weather conditions will persist for the next week. The Greater Bandung area generally has the potential for light to moderate rain. Temperatures range from 20–31 degrees Celsius with humidity levels of 65–94 percent, and wind speeds of 5–19 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, in West Java, conditions will range from sunny to cloudy in the morning. Light to heavy rain is possible from noon to night. Temperatures in West Java range from 18–32 degrees Celsius with humidity levels of 55–95 percent. Wind speeds from the west range from 5–30 kilometers per hour.

"The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) urges the public to be more vigilant because several areas in West Java are expected to experience increased rainfall intensity in the next few days," said Rahayu. Sea surface temperature anomalies in West Java waters remain quite warm, contributing to the growth of rain clouds on a local scale.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather will generally have the potential for light to heavy rain, possibly accompanied by lightning and strong winds, between the afternoon and evening of January 14th, covering Bekasi, Karawang, Bogor, Depok, Purwakarta, Subang, Cianjur, Sukabumi, Garut, Sumedang, Majalengka, Kuningan, Banjar City, and Pangandaran.

On January 15th, similar weather conditions will occur in Bekasi, Bogor, Depok, Karawang, Purwakarta, Subang, Cianjur, Sukabumi, Greater Bandung, Sumedang, Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan, Garut, Tasikmalaya Regency, Ciamis, Banjar, and Pangandaran.
