TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of the Sovereign Wealth Fund, Danantara Indonesia, Pandu Sjahrir, unveiled the reasons for the establishment of Danantara Indonesia Academy, a corporate university. The institution is targeted to be completed within the next two years.
"In the next two years, we aim to create a world-class university," said Pandu at the ImpactPreneurs Summit 2025 in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, as quoted from Antara.
Pandu stated that Danantara will consolidate all corporate universities within State-Owned Enterprises. The Danantara Indonesia Academy will offer general and specialized learning.
Pandu explained that the preparation for Danantara Indonesia Academy is still in the stage of organizational development and operational model construction. The next step involves operational standardization and legal and operational integration before full operation.
He is optimistic that Danantara Indonesia Academy will enable outstanding Indonesian talents to pursue quality education without the need to study abroad. They are also expected to compete globally over the next decade.
"With this, if we want Indonesia to become a country like the G7, we must have globally scaled universities that are recognized as one of the best in the world. If not, we will not progress," said Pandu.
Furthermore, Pandu encourages Indonesia's younger generation to start their own businesses, emphasizing human resources and ecosystem development.
He advises prospective entrepreneurs to adopt new paradigms in developing startups, such as focusing on value creation and building adaptive and measurable structures.
Pandu also reminds prospective startup founders to be flexible in accepting inputs. "Treat funding partners not only as investors, but as partners. They can be very helpful, especially in the field of human resources and company infrastructure development."
