TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has warned the public about the potential for rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds from noon until evening on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. The potential for heavy rain exists in three areas of Jakarta's administrative city, as well as throughout Tangerang, Bogor, South Tangerang, Bekasi, and Depok.

Referring to the 24-hour weather forecast from BMKG, the weather across the Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta) area tends to be heavily overcast since early this morning. There is already a potential for light rain in parts of Kepulauan Seribu (Thousands Island) and Bogor. The air humidity levels throughout the day range from 70 to 98 percent.

From 07:00 AM until midday, some areas in Jabodetabek remain partly sunny. Except in the overcast areas, there is a potential for light rain in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and North Jakarta. During this period, rain is also likely to fall in Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang, Bekasi Regency, and the entire Bogor area.

From the evening towards 07:00 PM, BMKG predicts that light rain will be evenly distributed across almost the entire Jabodetabek area. In West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta, the rain is expected to be moderate to heavy. Heavy rain is also expected in all of Tangerang, all of Bogor, Depok, and the entire Bekasi area.

The surface wind blows to the southwest with varying speeds of 5-34 kilometers per hour. The air temperature in Jakarta and its surrounding areas is likely to range from 24-32 degrees Celsius. Specifically in the city and regency of Bogor, the temperature ranges from 18-30 degrees Celsius.

According to the BMKG team, several atmospheric dynamics still influence the weather this week. One of the factors forming rain clouds is the Equatorial Rossby Wave and the Kelvin Wave. "The areas within the influence of these waves include the southern part of Sumatra, the central and southern parts of Kalimantan, the western part of Java, Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, and Papua," reads the BMKG statement.
