TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) stated that two of its tankers remain in the Persian Gulf amid the Israel-Iran war. The company stated that it continues to monitor conditions on the ground to ensure the safety of the crew and the continuity of energy distribution operations.
PIS Acting Corporate Secretary Vega Pita stated that four vessels are currently operating in the region. Two of them remain in the gulf: the Pertamina Pride and the Gamsunoro. The other two vessels are in relatively safer locations: the PIS Rinjani, anchored in Khor Fakkan, United Arab Emirates, and the PIS Paragon, which is unloading in Oman.
"Currently, our fleet team is in close communication with the management to coordinate and ensure the safety of the crew and vessels," Vega said in a written statement on Monday, March 2, 2026.
According to Vega, the Gamsunoro is currently loading in Khor al-Zubair, Iraq. The Pertamina Pride has completed loading in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia, but remains in the gulf. Management aims to quickly remove the two vessels from the risk area, while continuing to monitor the situation 24/7.
In addition to focusing on its fleet, PIS is also ensuring the safety of its employees at its Middle East branch office. The company has a PIS Middle East entity based in Dubai with approximately 30 employees and their families.
Vega stated that all workers are safe and are following the instructions of the Indonesian representative there, including an appeal to increase vigilance and report any emergencies.
Pertamina International Shipping stated that it has coordinated intensively with the ship's management and local maritime authorities to strengthen anticipatory measures. Communication is also ongoing with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian representatives in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
