TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Police's Special Detachment 88 Antiterror (Densus 88) is still investigating the suspected connection between the explosion incident at State Senior High School 72 (SMAN 72) in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, and the terrorist network. Despite the fact that both witnesses and perpetrators of the explosion are still undergoing treatment, the clues will be sought after.
"The Densus 88 is analyzing whether this is related to other terrorist acts, including the motive," said the Head of Public Relations Division of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Grand Commissioner Budi Hermanto, at the Metro Jaya Regional Police on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
A series of measures carried out by the police to uncover this case include examining the crime scene, taking statements from witnesses, and searching the homes of the explosion suspects.
Currently, the suspected perpetrator who is still a minor is undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). However, he has regained consciousness after undergoing head surgery following last Friday's explosion incident. The police have not yet named a suspect in this case.
The explosion occurred at SMAN 72 (high school) on Friday, November 7, 2025. Some eyewitnesses claimed to have heard two explosions. The first explosion was heard from the third-floor prayer room. This was followed by a second explosion a few minutes later from the back area of the cafeteria.
As of November 8, 2025, the latest police data shows that there are still 29 victims being treated in hospitals, while 67 others have been discharged. They are being treated at several hospitals, including Pertamina Hospital, Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital, and Yarsi Hospital.
