TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Special Advisor to the President for National Defense, Retired General Dudung Abdurachman, stated that many villages in Aceh have been lost or buried due to the Sumatra disaster.
Dudung detailed the post-disaster landslides and floods during his visit to affected areas from January 7-9, 2026. He traveled to Langkahan in North Aceh and Pidie Jaya Regency.
"Currently, there are still isolated villages even though aid has arrived. However, communication facilities are difficult. In fact, there are several areas reaching a height of 4 meters or more, and many villages are covered and lost," Dudung said in a statement on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
During the visit, Dudung provided Starlink units and power supplies. A total of 100 logistical units, containing basic necessities and stationery, are arriving in stages. Deputy Governor of Aceh, Fadullah, received the assistance.
"Alhamdullilah, together with the Regent and the head of the North Aceh Regency task force team, we have taken many steps, and the next stage will involve a reconstruction team led by Pak Tito Karnavian," Dudung said.
Dudung also met with community and religious leaders. He emphasized the importance of maintaining national defense for the Indonesian nation. "This nation must not slacken in its spirit to maintain the unity and integrity of the nation," he said.
Deputy Governor Fadhullah reported on the disaster's impact and the allocation of government aid. The central government provided Rp1 trillion, which may increase based on rehabilitation progress.
"Allah grants everything. Currently, 1 trillion per district/city can be obtained from the president. So, the initial estimate for Aceh is Rp33 trillion for everything. That's the initial interpretation," Fadhullah said.
Fadhullah hopes for swift disbursement to prevent budget inflation from worsening damage. He reported that 144,600 houses in Aceh suffered minor, moderate, or severe damage.
