TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Influential media from the United States, Hill, presents a list of seven potential candidates who are likely to continue the role of President Donald Trump in the Republican Party's nomination for the 2028 U.S. presidential election. One of them is Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
As reported by Antara, Hill reminded that Donald Trump Jr. hinted last week that he would not rule out the possibility of running after his father leaves the White House. However, the publication believes Vice President J.D. Vance also has a strong chance.
In an interview with NBC, Trump indicated that Vance could succeed him in 2028, but Trump did not openly endorse Vance. Other candidates include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and three white governors, with no candidates from ethnic minorities.
Before an interview with NBC News, Donald Trump denied planning to run for a third term in office. Trump explained that he would leave the White House at the end of his second term and would not seek to return to the position.
