TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two Gresini Racing riders climbed the podium at the 2025 MotoGP Indonesia Grand Prix, held at the Mandalika Circuit in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, on Sunday, October 5.
Spanish rookie Fermin Aldeguer claimed a stunning victory, while his teammate Alex Marquez secured third place behind Red Bull KTM’s Pedro Acosta.
The win marks Aldeguer’s first MotoGP triumph in his debut season. At just 20 years and 183 days old, he becomes the second-youngest rider ever to win a MotoGP race—surpassed only by Marc Marquez, who achieved the feat at 20 years and 63 days in Austin, Texas, in 2013.
Aldeguer crossed the finish line with a time of 40 minutes and 58.730 seconds, followed by Acosta at +6.987 seconds, and Alex Marquez at +7.896 seconds.
The race began dramatically in the opening sector when reigning world champion Marc Marquez clipped the rear of Marco Bezzecchi’s bike. Both riders crashed and were forced to retire early. Moments later, Joan Mir also lost control and exited the race on the second lap.
At the front, Pedro Acosta took an early lead, trailed by Luca Marini and Aldeguer. By lap five, Aldeguer began closing in after Marini slipped down the order. Two laps later, the young Spaniard seized the lead from Acosta and never looked back.
Meanwhile, Ducati’s Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia joined his teammate Marc Marquez on the sidelines after crashing at Turn 17.
Aldeguer steadily extended his advantage to more than a second ahead of Acosta. By lap 12, Marini tried to reclaim second place, but Acosta held firm. On lap 15, Alex Rins surged into third, keeping the pressure on Acosta for several laps before overtaking him on lap 19.
The closing laps delivered more twists. On lap 23, Alex Marquez overtook Rins to move into second. However, in the final lap, Acosta fought back, reclaiming second place with a decisive maneuver.
When the checkered flag waved, Aldeguer held strong to claim a career-defining first win, followed by Acosta and Alex Marquez, securing a memorable double podium for Gresini Racing.
