TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The drama Made in Korea delves into the tumultuous rise of the South Korean industry during the 1970s. This drama will explore tales of ambition, power, and intense moral conflicts, supported by cinematic visuals that enhance its historical narrative. While rooted in Korean history, the filming of this drama took place in various locations to provide an authentic cinematic atmosphere.
Made in Korea follows the story of two men on a collision course with history and each other. Kitae (Hyun Bin) leads a double life as a secret agent during the day and a drug smuggler at night. His greatest challenge comes from Gunyoung (Jung Woo Sung), a tough prosecutor.
The drama airs on Disney+ Indonesia, with production taking place in Thailand. However, several key scenes were filmed in a popular port city in Japan. According to Travel and Leisure Asia, the filming locations of Made in Korea are intriguing to visit.
'Made in Korea' Filming Locations
1. Japan, Port City Kobe
To visually depict the atmosphere of a 1970s Korean port city, the production team selected Kobe, Japan, as one of its main filming locations. The city offers well-preserved port architecture and classic urban views that suit the drama's setting.
2. 3D Tunnel, Kanchanaburi
An old tin mining tunnel in Thong Pha Phum, known for its rough rock walls, cave-like interior, and narrow, winding access roads that add texture to darker sequences.
3. Sangchuto Road, Kanchanaburi
This is another filming location along Sangchuto Road, which cuts through the center of Kanchanaburi City. Unlike the bustling nightlife in its surroundings, this road presents a lively yet easily accessible urban landscape, providing an ideal visual backdrop for filming needs.
4. Satthahip Beach, Chonburi
Although the production team did not specify the exact location, Satthahip Beach, Chonburi, is recorded as one of the filming locations. There is no officially named "Satthahip Beach"; the term generally refers to a group of beaches in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. Recommended beaches in the area include Hat Sai Kaeo Beach, Nang Ram Beach, Toei Ngam Beach, Dongtan Beach, and Bang Saray Beach.
5. Royal Thai Marine Corps Base, Chonburi
Located in Sattahip, Chonburi, the Royal Thai Marine Corps base serves as both a real-world military center and a filming location for international productions, with the base and nearby coastal areas often appearing on screen.
