2 months ago 25

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fly Jaya Airlines officially took off on July 3, 2025. The newly established airline, which began operations in 2024, now offers flights between Yogyakarta and Jakarta via Adisutjipto and Halim Perdanakusuma airports, respectively. As reported on the Fly Jaya page, the airline is managed by PT Surya Mataram Nusantara.

"Starting today, Thursday, July 3, 2025, this route is open. This route is served using the ATR 72 fleet, an efficient turboprop aircraft suitable for short distances," said Fly Jaya's Chief Commercial Officer Ary Mercyanto, confirmed in Jakarta on July 4, 2025.

Fly Jaya Airlines Profile

Fly Jaya is an airline that offers domestic and short-haul flights for the Indonesian public. As reported by Antara, on January 22, 2025, when it first started operating, Fly Jaya was planned to serve routes from Yogyakarta and Bandung to Balikpapan, with departures from Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.

The new airline is committed to becoming a carrier that can reach remote or underserved areas. Its existence is expected to make it easier for people to travel by air to all regions of Indonesia.

The airline aims to become a leading carrier supported by a strong regional network and innovative travel experiences.

Fly Jaya carries a mission to support community mobility and national economic growth through broader connectivity. Fly Jaya aims to provide reliable, innovative, and elegant travel experiences that connect people and regions throughout Indonesia and abroad. The company never forgets the importance of safety, comfort, and hospitality.

Fly Jaya uses the ATR 72-500 aircraft fleet. This aircraft belongs to the twin-turboprop ATR 72 generation, specially designed for short-haul regional travel. Additionally, the ATR 72-500 aircraft boasts an ergonomic design and fuel efficiency, making it more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

PT Surya Mataram Nusantara launched the Fly Jaya airline, which is headquartered in South Jakarta, Senayan.

Previously, the appearance of Fly Jaya was well received by two ministers, namely the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, and the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi. With the presence of Fly Jaya, the limited number of aircraft in Indonesia can be better fulfilled.

"Indonesia needs 750 aircraft. The current situation is only 410 for domestic services. So, anyone who invests in increasing the number of aircraft certainly should be welcomed," said Erick on January 21, 2025.

The existence of Fly Jaya is expected to meet the public demand in Indonesia's aviation industry, which is currently dominated by a few major airlines. By setting competitive fares and world-class quality services, Fly Jaya has the potential to become a strong competitor in this industry.

Since January 2025, Fly Jaya was confirmed to start operating in mid-2025. Before officially operating, Fly Jaya Airlines must obtain the mandatory Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to fly in Indonesian airspace.

The Director General of Civil Aviation from the Ministry of Transportation, Lukman F. Laisa, stated that the new airline, Fly Jaya, has already obtained an Air Transport Standard Certificate (SSAU) and operational permits. "Meanwhile, for the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) operational permit, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued it on June 16, 2025, so Fly Jaya can apply for operational routes," Lukman said as quoted by Antara.
