Gojek Drivers Eligible for Zero Down Payment Subsidized Mortgages

1 week ago 21

TEMPO.CO, JakartaOnline motorcycle taxi drivers partnering with Gojek can now apply for government-subsidized mortgages with zero down payment under a new partnership between Indonesia's Public Housing Savings Agency (BP Tapera) and PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk.

The program, launched through a cooperation agreement signed in Jakarta on Friday, July 3, is aimed at helping low-income workers in the informal sector become first-time homeowners.

Sid Herdi Kusuma, Deputy Commissioner for Fund Utilization at BP Tapera, said the initiative is intended for Gojek driver partners who meet the government's criteria for low-income households.

"Through this cooperation, eligible Gojek driver partners classified as low-income communities can access subsidized mortgages under the Housing Finance Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme with a zero percent down payment," Sid said during the signing ceremony at the BP Tapera office.

The Housing Finance Liquidity Facility (FLPP) is an Indonesian government mortgage subsidy program that helps low-income households purchase their first homes.

Eligibility Requirements

BP Tapera will verify and assess every applicant to ensure the housing assistance is provided to eligible beneficiaries.

The verification process will determine whether applicants qualify for the subsidized mortgage. Among the requirements are that drivers must be between 21 and 45 years old, meet the government's low-income criteria, and have never owned a home.

Sid said BP Tapera will also evaluate applicants based on their work performance, including the number of completed trips and their monthly active or online hours on the Gojek platform.

The cooperation agreement between BP Tapera and Gojek will remain in effect until 2027. There is currently no quota limiting the number of eligible drivers, meaning all applicants who meet the requirements can access the program.

Priority for High-Performing Drivers

Shinto Nugroho, Chief of Public Affairs, Public Policy & Government Relations at PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk, said priority will be given to drivers with consistently strong performance.

"These are partners who are top performers, or what we call champion partners. They are not selected solely based on how long they have worked with Gojek, but more importantly on their consistent performance," Shinto said.

He added that around 3,000 Gojek drivers are currently undergoing financial eligibility checks, including credit history assessments through Indonesia's Financial Information Service System (SLIK).

Meanwhile, 125 drivers across several regions of Indonesia are ready to sign mortgage agreements under the program.
