TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi has asked the Press, Media, and Information Bureau (BPMI) of the Presidential Secretariat to communicate with CNN Indonesia regarding the revocation of one of its reporters' presidential press cards.
Prasetyo is seeking the best solution to the issue.
"Yes, we are looking for the best solution. So, today we have already informed the Press Bureau to try to communicate and find the best way out," said Prasetyo after attending a meeting led by President Prabowo Subianto at Kertanegara residence, South Jakarta, Sunday, September 28, 2025, evening.
Prasetyo said that the BPMI would first communicate with CNN Indonesia and then determine the best course of action.
Previously, the Press, Media, and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat revoked the press card belonging to CNN Indonesia reporter Diana Valencia for covering the Presidential Palace.
The revocation was suspected to be because Diana had asked President Prabowo Subianto about issues within the free nutritious program (MBG). The question was posed shortly after Prabowo returned from a foreign visit on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta.
At that time, the CNN reporter asked whether Prabowo had given specific instructions to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) regarding the MBG. The Presidential Secretariat objected to the CNN reporter's question to the President, considering it out of context. Therefore, the Presidential Secretariat revoked the reporter's press card for covering the palace.
Prabowo actually answered that he would summon the Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana. "I am monitoring the developments. After this, I will directly summon the Head of BGN and several officials," said the retired Indonesian military general.
The Editor-in-Chief of CNN Indonesia, Titin Rosmasari, sent an official letter to the Press, Media, and Information Bureau (BPMI) of the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday, September 28, 2025. The editorial team of CNN Indonesia questioned the reason why the BPMI revoked the presidential press card of their journalist, Diana Valencia.
"We sent it this afternoon. Maybe our BPMI friends have not read it yet," said Titin when contacted on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Titin is still waiting for an official response from the BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat. She hopes that the BPMI and Minister of State Secretariat, Prasetyo Hadi, will explain the reason for revoking Diana's press card for covering the palace.
Titin explained that the BPMI staff took Diana's press card for covering the palace directly from the CNN Indonesia TV office on Captain P. Tendean Street in Jakarta on Saturday evening, September 27, 2025. However, the palace staff could not explain why the palace revoked the reporter's press card.
