TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Protests were once again held by several groups of students from various universities at several points in Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Metro Police recorded four locations as the sites of student demonstrations today.
Head of Public Relations Section of Central Jakarta Metro Police Inspector Erlyn Sumantri stated that two groups of students would hold a protest at the Arjuna Wijaya Horse Statue area in Central Jakarta. The demonstration is expected to take place from 10:00 AM onwards.
"Other locations are in front of the DPR, MPR, and DPD (parliament) Complex as well as on Kwitang Raya Street," Erlyn said in a written statement on Monday, June 15, 2026.
The Arjuna Wijaya Horse Statue area will be the site of protests by the Bung Karno University (UBK) Student Executive Board (BEM), Trisakti University, Student Action Front (FAM) of the University of Indonesia, Perisai and Cipayung Alliance, and other student organizations.
Meanwhile, in front of the Parliament Complex, a protest will be held by a cross-campus student group. "On Kwitang Raya Street, a demonstration will be conducted by the Alliance of BEM All over Indonesia - Jambi Province," said Erlyn.
She did not respond to the question about the number of security personnel or the presence of military assistance. She only stated that the security was carried out by her institution with assistance from the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police.
"5,955 personnel have been deployed," she said.
Previously, BEM UBK stated that in today's protest, they carried the theme "Reshape Indonesia" with six demands for the administration of President Prabowo Subianto.
These six demands include temporarily stopping and evaluating the free nutritious meal (MBG) and Red-and-White Village Cooperative projects; reconsidering the Indonesian National Police Law.
Furthermore, they demand an end to militarism and the upholding of civil supremacy. They urge the government to take strategic steps to maintain the stability of the rupiah exchange rate and the resilience of the national economy. They demand that the government provide inclusive, quality, and affordable education for all Indonesian citizens.
"Finally, we demand the government to review the increase in fuel prices as it burdens the people," said the Chairman of the Law Faculty BEM UBK, M. Abdul Maludin via WhatsApp, on Monday.
