TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 7.45 million foreigners visited Indonesia between January and June 2026, according to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), marking the highest figure since 2020.
"Cumulatively—from January to June 2026—total foreign tourist visits reached 7.45 million, up by 5.71 percent compared to the same period in 2025," said Ateng Hartono, BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, during an online press briefing in Jakarta on Monday, August 3, as quoted from Antara.
In June, foreign arrivals in Indonesia stood at 1.39 million between two entry points: 1,210,879 visits via main entry points and 175,696 visits via border entry points.
On a month-to-month basis, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia rose slightly by 0.32 percent. However, compared to June 2025, the figure dropped by 2.15 percent.
Regarding the tourists' countries of origin, BPS recorded 258.69 thousand visits (18.7 percent of the total) from Malaysia in June 2026; however, this figure represented a 13.25 percent decrease compared to May 2026.
In comparison, there was an increase in arrivals by tourists holding Singaporean and Australian passports. For tourists from Singapore, BPS recorded 169.91 thousand visits—a month-to-month increase of 24.26 percent—while 167.50 thousand tourists from Australia visited Indonesia, showing growth of 8.04 percent (accounting for approximately 12.1 percent of the total) compared to May 2026.
"On a month-to-month basis, there was an increase in visits by tourists holding Singaporean and Australian passports, whereas visits by tourists holding Malaysian passports actually declined," he said. Ateng added that the highest number of foreign arrivals entering Indonesia has been through Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, totaling 604,962 visitors. These arrivals were dominated by tourists from Australia, accounting for 156,706 visits.
Meanwhile, a total of 240,681 foreign tourists entered Indonesia through Soekarno-Hatta Airport, followed by Batam with 156,984 visits in June 2026.
