Indonesia's Coach Patrick Kluivert Selects Final 23-Man Squad to Face China

1 day ago 4

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia head coach Patrick Kluivert has finalized his 23-man squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifier against China, set to kick off at 20:45 on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta.

Originally calling up 30 players for the matches against China and Japan, Kluivert was left with 28 following suspensions for Maarten Paes and Marselino Ferdinan due to yellow card accumulation. From those, five have been cut to meet the matchday squad requirement.

According to the national team’s official Instagram, the dropped players include PSM Makassar goalkeeper Reza Arya, who remains uncapped after being a benchwarmer under Shin Tae-yong. Defender Jordi Amat (Johor Darul Ta’zim) was also excluded after missing training in Bali due to acute throat inflammation, cough, and headaches.

Also omitted were Thai League players Asnawi Mangkualam (Port FC) and Pratama Arhan (Bangkok United), despite strong club performances. The final player cut was Shayne Pattynama, currently without a club after parting ways with KAS Eupen in early May.

Debutant Beckham Putra made the final list, as did veteran Stefano Lilipaly and the Sayuri twins.

With two matches left in Round 3, Indonesia sits fourth in Group C with 9 points, one behind Saudi Arabia and ahead of Bahrain and China (6 points each).
