TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) in the creative economy sector surpasses overall national economic growth from 2022 to 2024.

"Despite the slowdown in 2023, the creative economy sector pushed through in line with the national economic recovery," said Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky at the Ekraf Annual Report 2025 event in Jakarta, on Monday, December 22, 2025.

"But it bounced back in 2024," he added.

During his presentation, the minister mentioned the GDP of the creative economy in 2022 was 6.81 percent, higher than the economic growth of that year, which was 5.31 percent. Subsequently, the GDP dropped to 5.05 percent in 2023, while the national economic growth at that time was also 5.05 percent. Then the GDP surged to 6.57 percent in 2024, with the national growth at 5.03 percent.

Furthermore, the GDP in current prices for the creative economy sector was Rp1,370.4 trillion in 2022, Rp1,476.2 trillion in 2023, and Rp1,611.2 trillion in 2024. "This signals creative economy as the new engine to drive economic growth," said Teuku Riefky.

This year, Riefky said the government seeks 5.3 to 5.54 percent GDP in creative economy. "Statistics Indonesia (BPS) will release the data in early 2026, around February," he added.

Additionally, the minister revealed several key performance indicators for 2025. Investments reached Rp132 trillion for the first three quarters of 2025, representing 9 percent of overall foreign investments.

Furthermore, the export value was recorded at US$26.69 billion in the first to third quarters of 2025, surpassing the target in the 2025 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) of US$26.4 billion. Creative economy workforce during this time reached 27.4 million people, exceeding the RPJMN target of 25.55 million people.
