TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s creative economy exports reached US$ 26.69 billion from January to October 2025, driven primarily by fashion and crafts, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya said. Key export destinations included the United States, Switzerland, Japan, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.

“The value of this export, recorded by the BPS (Central Statistics Agency), is still in physical goods and does not yet include creative economy services,” Riefky said during the Ekraf Annual Report 2025 event at Thamrin Nine, Jakarta, on December 22, 2025.

The reported figure accounts for 11.96 percent of total non-oil and gas exports and surpasses the 2025 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) target of US$ 26.4 billion.

Fashion and Crafts Lead Exports

Fashion exports dominated with US$ 14.86 billion, followed by crafts at US$ 11.1 billion. Other sectors included culinary products at US$ 645.1 million, game development at US$ 54.1 million, publishing at US$ 14.4 million, visual arts at US$ 7.4 million, photography at US$ 0.7 million, and music at US$ 0.1 million.

The largest export market remained the United States with US$ 8.32 billion, followed by Switzerland (US$ 3.57 billion), Japan (US$ 1.32 billion), Thailand (US$ 1.23 billion), and the United Arab Emirates (US$ 1.22 billion). Other countries accounted for US$ 11.02 billion, highlighting a mix of global and regional markets, Riefky said.

Strategic Market Positioning and Future Plans

Looking ahead, the ministry plans to position Switzerland as a hub for the European market, Thailand for Southeast Asia, and the UAE for the Middle East.

Riefky also stated that the ministry is coordinating with Bank Indonesia and BPS to record creative economy services as exports, reflecting the growing contribution of digital and technology-based creative work.

“This is also to be recorded as a roadmap to support the creative economy sector based on digital and technology,” he said.
