Jakarta Flood Update: 35 Neighborhood Units Still Submerged, BPBD Reports

2 months ago 25

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Jakarta recorded that as many as 35 neighborhoods (RT) are still flooded until Tuesday at 05:00 AM, as a result of intense rain and the maximum sea level since Monday, July 7, 2025.

This condition is triggered by a combination of extreme weather and early warnings of coastal flooding (rob) issued by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) due to the new moon phase and Perigee that strengthens the maximum sea level.

BPBD Jakarta recorded that the floods are scattered in four city areas, with the most in South Jakarta, as many as 25 neighborhoods. Meanwhile, West Jakarta reported 7 affected neighborhoods, North Jakarta 2 neighborhoods, and East Jakarta 1 neighborhood.

In South Jakarta, the most severely affected sub-district is Duren Tiga with floods reaching 130 cm due to the overflow of Kali Mampang, followed by Kuningan Barat (95 cm), Jati Padang (85 cm), and Pela Mampang (60 cm).

Meanwhile, in West Jakarta, the flood reached 50 cm in Kedaung Kali Angke due to high rainfall and the overflow of Kali Cengkareng. North Jakarta also experienced a flood of 65 cm in Kapuk Muara Sub-District caused by a combination of rain and rob.

A total of six evacuation points have been prepared to accommodate affected residents. Among them are the Al Mujahidin Mosque in Jati Padang Sub-District, currently accommodating 140 people, and the Al Inayah Mushola in Pejaten Barat, accommodating 60 people.

Three roads in West Jakarta are still inundated, namely Jl. Adi Karya (40 cm), Jl. Bojong Indah Raya (30 cm), and Jl. Raya Daan Mogot KM 11 (20 cm), which also disrupt the mobility of residents.

Nevertheless, BPBD also reported that floods have receded in several areas, including 40 neighborhoods in Petogogan Sub-District, as well as in Kebon Jeruk, Cipete Utara, Jagakarsa, and Cilandak Timur.

Several roads that were previously flooded have also been declared dry, such as Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said (Kel. Guntur), Jl. Gaya Motor Raya and Jl. Gaya Motor 2 (Kel. Sungai Bambu), and Jl. Perumahan Green Garden (Kel. Kedoya Utara).

BPBD Jakarta has deployed personnel to all affected areas to monitor the situation and coordinate with the Water Resources Agency, Bina Marga, and Gulkarmat to carry out water pumping and ensure that the water channels function normally.

"We are handling this in an integrated manner with sub-district heads, district heads, and related agencies. The inundation is targeted to recede quickly," wrote BPBD's official statement.

BPBD urges residents to remain vigilant against the potential for inundation and to immediately report to the 24-hour toll-free emergency service 112.
