TEMPO.COJakarta - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has issued a formal apology following an incident in which a visually impaired individual fell into a drainage ditch near the Transjakarta CSW bus stop in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

Pramono stressed that such accidents are unacceptable and vowed to prevent any recurrence in the capital. "Instances like this must not be repeated, and for this specific case, I apologize," Pramono stated in a written release on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

The Governor further announced his intention to reprimand the board of directors and management of Transjakarta regarding the oversight. He expressed regret that a customer with a disability had to experience such an ordeal in Jakarta. "I will reprimand the board of directors and the management of Transjakarta," he affirmed.

Pramono maintained that the Jakarta Provincial Government remains committed to the needs of the disabled community. He reiterated his vision for Jakarta to transform into a more disability-friendly and inclusive city.

"I have repeatedly emphasized that regarding anything related to disabilities, Jakarta must be more accommodating," Pramono said.

In response, PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has reached out directly to the affected customer to offer an apology. The company stated it has provided the necessary attention and support to the individual involved.

Tjahyadi DPM, Head of the Company Secretariat and Public Relations at Transjakarta, noted that the incident has prompted a serious internal review. Management is now conducting a comprehensive evaluation of operational service standards, particularly concerning the Transjakarta Care support services.

Transjakarta Care is a free service designed for persons with disabilities in Jakarta, intended to provide safe, comfortable, and inclusive access to public transportation.

"Transjakarta is ready to provide attention and support to the customer involved. Currently, we are conducting internal evaluations and strengthening service standards to prevent similar incidents from reoccurring," Tjahyadi said.

The mishap reportedly took place on Sunday afternoon, January 11. The incident gained public attention after a video of the fall began circulating on social media.

The footage shows the visually impaired Transjakarta Care customer falling into the drain near the CSW stop. The person recording the video alleged that the incident occurred due to negligence by Transjakarta Care staff, who reportedly failed to escort the customer to a safe location.
