TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government has sent aid worth Rp3 billion for victims of the disaster in Sumatra. This donation comes from fundraising efforts by the provincial government and several private organizations.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo released the aid on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. "Hopefully, our actions today can benefit our brothers and sisters still affected by the floods in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra," Pramono said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to him, the Rp3 billion was raised through cooperation with businessmen and zakat or alms institutions. The governor, a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, mentioned that all funds will be distributed as humanitarian aid.
Pramono stated that at least 22 zakat organizations participated in fundraising with the Jakarta government. These groups are part of the Forum Zakat (FOZ) DKI Jakarta. Donations were also collected alongside the Indonesian Association of Nusantara Cargo Entrepreneurs (IPCN).
Pramono expressed his gratitude to those who participated in the drive and contributed billions of rupiah. "On behalf of the Jakarta Provincial Government, we express our appreciation," said the former cabinet secretary.
The total funds were used to provide 27 tons of supplies for disaster victims. The aid sent today consists of basic needs, including food, hygiene kits, clothing, medicine, and tents. These supplies will be delivered by 10 trucks and several minibuses.
He announced that the Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to raise funds for victims in Sumatra. The government plans to use New Year's Eve on December 31 to collect more donations openly.
According to Pramono, the donation packages are not only for Sumatra. "We will also allocate aid for other regions, such as West Java and Central Java, which have also suffered from disasters," he said.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the death toll from the disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra has reached over 1,100 people. Data from December 23, 2025, shows 1,106 deaths across 52 regencies and cities in the three provinces. Meanwhile, 175 people are still missing.
Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian urged local governments to record detailed data on affected residents immediately. He said this data is needed to speed up the distribution of aid and compensation from the central government.
"For homes with light or moderate damage, I urge Mayors, Regents, and Governors to immediately record the names and addresses of affected people. This list is necessary so the central government can send compensation quickly," Tito said during a visit to Sibolga, North Sumatra, on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
