Jakarta Records Surge in Intercity Train Arrivals as School Holiday Nearing End

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) for Operational Region (Daop) 1 Jakarta noted a surge in intercity arrivals to Jakarta and nearby cities in July 2025. 

The Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Ixfan Hendriwintoko, said as many as 325,960 passengers arrived in Jakarta from July 1-9, 2025. "Or 2.4 percent higher than the departures," said Ixfan in a written statement on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

According to Ixfan, the upward trend in passengers marks the end of the school holiday period.

Ixfan revealed that Pasar Senen Station became the busiest station due to the highest number of arrivals with 121,017 passengers.

This figure is then followed by Gambir Station, which received a total of 96,666 passengers. Followed by Bekasi Station with a total of 46,146 passengers, and Jatinegara Station with 37,714 arrivals.

Additionally, Ixfan stated that KAI Daop 1 Jakarta also recorded an average of 69 intercity train trips per day during that period. "Consisting of 35 trips from Gambir Station and 34 trips from Pasar Senen Station," said Ixfan.

Ixfan urged all users to always pay attention and take care of their belongings, both when inside the train and in the station area. "We express our gratitude for the public's trust in KAI's services," he said.

More arrivals are also noted at Cirebon Station. KAI Daop 3 Cirebon noted a 19.6 percent increase in the number of passengers during the school holiday or during the period from June 27 to July 3, 2025.

The Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 3 Cirebon, Muhibbuddin, stated that there were 52,843 passengers departing from all stations in the KAI Daop 3 Cirebon area, or an average of 7,549 passengers per day.

"As for the arrivals, there were a total of 49,135 people or an average of 7,019 passengers per day," said Muhibbuddin as quoted from Antara on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
